At Eddie's Bicycles we have a wide range of hybrid or comfort bikes from which to choose. We would be happy to meet you, get to know what your needs are, and help you pick out the best possible bike. Hybrid bicycles, Comfort bikes, and Commuters have grown in popularity over the last decade, and for good reason. Hybrid bicycles appeal to more riders than just road-racing or mountain-biking. Hybrids are very useful. They are wonderful fitness bikes, being lightweight and efficient to pedal. Those qualities are great in any style of bike, which makes them very versatile; they can be used as fitness bikes, or commuter bikes, or light touring bikes. Hybrids are efficient and speedy without sacrificing comfort. They have more upright riding positions, and frame designs that are more stable than twitchy like racing bikes. Hybrids are easy to accessorize, making them easy to personalize to best suit your particular needs.

| Hybrid Bicycles | Comfort Road or Mountain Bikes | Commuter Bicycles |
|---|---|---|
Hybrid bicycles typically have 700c road wheels and a flat bar, instead of a drop bar typically found on a road bike. Hybrids have a more upright riding position, but not so relaxed that a 20-30 mile ride would be a problem on the weekends. Hybrids are great bikes for getting around town, or commuting, too. Hybrids have a slightly more aggressive riding position than Comfort or Commuter bikes.
|
Comfort bikes can be either road or mountain orientated; the difference being primarily between the wheel diameters. Comfort mountain bikes have 26" wheels with wide tires, and comfort road bikes have 700c wheels with skinny tires. Comfort bikes are great for getting around town, doing short casual rides, or especially for riding rails-to-trails. Comfort bikes have a very relaxed riding position, and typically the rider's hands rest on the handlebars above the saddle position, thereby reducing strain on the wrists and lower back. These bikes offer an excellent field of vision for the rider.

Coda Series
Steel Performance Hybrid
The Jamis Coda is one very versatile bike, and also happens to be one of our best selling models. The natural shock absorbing properties of the steel frame ensures a comfortable ride for miles and miles. Not only that, but we're talking about Reynolds 520 steel, which is lighter and stronger than typical 4130. The geometry of the Coda is much like a road bike, without the drop handlebars and intimidating shifters. Instead, the Coda has a flat bar with standard trigger shifters for easy, worry-free shifting. The Elite & Comp models come with a carbon fiber fork, making them ride even smoother. The Codas are available in male and female specific models, too. Do a little research, and you will find that the Jamis Coda has won the 2011 Editor's Choice Award from Bicycling Magazine, in addition to accolades from other bicycling publications as well. This bike just glides down the road, and has a price that is very hard to beat.

Allegro X Series
Cross training Hybrid
Similar the Allegros, the Allegro X series is the off-road, all-terrain version of the Allegro. It is loaded with features to make the off-road experience more enjoyable and safer. Disc brakes, 700X38c Vittoria tires, and a suspension fork give it the extra edge it needs to be a more aggressive all-terrain bike. These bicycles are ideal for bike path riding and rails-to-trails rides as well as urban commutes. The Allegro X series makes a burly commuter bike, capable of handling anything in the urban jungle. The component spec is tough enough to withstand heavy abuse and come out shining through the mud, which is exactly why Jamis refers to this bike as the SUV of hybrid bikes!

Hudson Series
Comfort Bike Path
The venerable Hudson is one of the smoothest, most comfortable riding bikes we have ever had the pleasure of riding. The 2011 Hudson 3 was Eddie's best-selling bicycle last year. This year, the Hudson comes in a number of different set-ups, which should make it popular with just about everyone. This year the Hudson comes as a singlespeed w/ a coaster brake, or with a 3spd internally geared hub and a coaster brake, or as a fully geared hand brake bike. Step-thru models are available, making this a really easy bike to get on and off. There are lots of colors available. The best feature of the Hudson is the pedal-forward design; it allows the rider to get full leg extension while still being able to touch the ground while seated! A really nice feature for some of us. The Hudsons are a dream to ride, and cannot be beaten for riding on bike paths, riding around the beach, or just cruising around town.

Commuter Series
Commuting
The name says it all. These bikes are born and bred to be the best at what they do; Commuting with ease, comfort, and style. Simple designs, loaded with ergonomic comforts, and surprisingly efficient to pedal- the Commuters are quick, light, and agile in the urban jungle. Most times, customers who buy these bikes agree, their commute becomes the highlight of their day. Commuter bikes from Jamis come with fenders and rear racks, because it just makes sense. An internally geared hub is available on two different models this year; the Commuter 3 & 4. Internally geared hubs are like automatic transmissions for bicycles, and for commuters, these hubs are desirable because they are very reliable and very, very rarely need any service. If you're looking to get around town comfortably, efficiently, and easily, then look no further. Say hello to your new best friend, the Jamis Commuter.
