Ice Hockey       Street Hockey       Figure Skating

Eddie's Bicycles is not just a local bike shop - We are a Skate Shop, too!   Eddies Bicycles and Sports Equipment, in State College, PA, has a great selection of Ice Skates, In-line Skates, Hockey Sticks, Ice Hockey Equipment and Protective Gear.

We also offer professional Ice Skate Sharpening, Profiling and Boot-baking, in addition to a number of other skate-related repair services.

Skate Sharpening

We professionally sharpen ice hockey skates and figure skates.  Our rates are as follows:

  • Overnight Skate Sharp...$6
  • Same day Skate Sharp...$8
  • While-U-Wait Skate Sharp...$10
    • sometimes its best to call ahead for While-U-Wait Skate Sharpening
  • New Skate Sharp...$20   (Fee is waived when you purchase skates from Us.)
  • Figure/ Pond Skate Surcharge...$5
  • Skate Fitting...$20    (Fee is waived when you purchase skates from Us.)

We will sharpen any size hollow, and we offer profiling and thermal molding services.

  • Profiling...$40
    • Finds the balance point on the skate and grinds a custom edge specified by the skater to accentuate your particular skating style.  This is a continual process, requiring constant feedback from the skater, trying different profiles until an ideal profile is achieved.
  • Thermal Molding/ Skate Baking...$30
    • Some skates are thermal formable.  This process drastically reduces the break-in period for a new skate.  The skate is baked in a skate oven, then allowed to cool on your foot.  The heated skate molds specifically to your foot, making it much more comfortable.  When you purchase a thermal-formable skate from us, this fee is waived.

We also offer ice skate repair services:  replacing rivets, boot stretching, boot baking for thermal-moldable skates, and replacing steel.  If you have any questions about skate or equipment repair, please feel free to call us. 
 

  

  
Eddie Magulick, owner/ operator of Eddie's Bicycles & Sports Equipment, has nearly 30 years of experience helping bicyclists and hockey players alike.  Playing hockey is Eddie's passion.  He loves skating and he takes skate sharpening very seriously.  No one will put a better edge on your skates than him! New Skates

We offer new ice skates for both ice hockey players and figure skaters alike, in a wide range of sizes and different performance levels.  We have a large selection of Bauer and Riedell Skates in stock. CCM and Reebok skates are available, too, but we have less of those items in stock, although we are happy to special order them at no additional charge.
We offer professional fitting services, and will guarantee the fit if you follow our recommendation. Your new skates can be baked & sharpened right here before you take them home.  When you buy your skates from Us, the fitting, initial sharpening and boot-baking are all included in our retail price.  No hidden fees!

Ice Hockey Skates
Typically, Bauer Supreme One 20's are always in stock in a number of different sizes.  Some Supreme One 40's and One 60's are usually available in only a few sizes, and skates from the Bauer Vapor line are in short supply.  Normally, we would size you, and have you try on some less expensive skates to insure proper fit.  Once we narrow down the size, we discuss quality level, and then order a pair of skates that best suit your particular needs.

Figure Skates
Riedell figure skates are in kept in stock with plenty of sizes available in the less expensive models, and fewer sizes available in the more expensive models.  Typically, if you are interested in more advanced figure skates, we would size you, and check the size with the less expensive skates, then special order the skates best suited to your needs.

Street Hockey Skates
Inline hockey skates are in stock, but sizes and models are limited to just a few.  Currently, we have models available from Bauer and Mission, but we are capable of ordering anything you require.  At present, we do not offer inline skates not made for street hockey; inline hockey skates do not have brakes, so they do not work well as roller blades.

 

Protective Gear & Equipment

We also offer protective gear for ice and street hockey players in a wide range of styles and price ranges. Shoulder pads, chest protectors, shin guards, hockey pants, helmets, hockey gloves, elbow pads, atletic supporters and cups, compression shorts, and practice hockey jerseys are all readily available.

Typically, we stock helmets and gloves from Bauer & CCM; chest protectors, elbow pads, and shin pads from Reebok & Sherwood; and hockey pants from Tackla.  Of course, if we don't already have what you're looking for, we would be more than happy to order it at no extra charge.

Hockey sticks aplenty!  Canadian, Montreal, Easton, Sherwood, Reebok, KoHo, TPS, and CCM; take your pick!  We also offer replacement shafts and blades, too.  Plus, we have a really great deal going right now on Pro-stock sticks previously owned by the Hershey Bears repaired using the SRS system.  These awesome hockey sticks were once broken, then repaired using the SRS system.  The repaired Pro-stock sticks are less than half original retail price and even come with a 30dy Guarantee.  You just can't beat that!

Skating Accessories

Howies hockey tape and skate laces are always in stock.  We also have a good supply of blade guards, tuff-terrys, or soakers, in a variety of different colors, too.  Additionally, you will find Mr. Zog's Sex Wax, garter belts, mouthguards, ice hockey pucks, street hockey balls and IDS Pro-shot rollers.  Honing stones are available, in case your blades get banged up real bad and you cannot get back here to have Eddie sharpen them.  We also have referee whistles, Attack Pads, & Command Grips.  Get your water bottles here, too.  Need a hockey bag? - we got that, too!
